Standard Texas DPS Road Test

“YES, you can take the DPS Driving Road Test at Drivers Test Now instead of having to take your test at the Texas Department of Public Safety. This means that you can avoid the invariably long waits for a driving test at the TDPS.

YOU QUALIFY TO TAKE A ROAD TEST IF:

 You are 18 years or older

 Must have a valid Texas Learner’s Permit (with picture on it)

 Must complete 6 hour ADE-1317 (Adult Driver Education Course) and have the completion certificate. We must have this Certificate before we can conduct the test.

 Watch a 1 hour Impact Texas Young Drivers (ITYD) video and have a valid completion certificate (expires 90 days after date of issue). Click here to REGISTER to watch the required ITYD video. You will need to download, print.

Bring all documents printed and signed.

ROAD TEST INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING:

  You can use your own car for the test, or optionally you can rent the driving school car for $35 to use for the test.

  There is also an additional option for Test Insurance for $20 that will let you have a 2nd and 3rd try at taking and passing your test.

 Also there is a $150 Road Test + DPS Upload Service for Drivers Test Now to process and submit your road test documents through the Department of Public Safety (DPS) portal. This will help you avoid the hassle of scheduling in-person appointments with DPS. Please note that the DPS portal is still in development and may require multiple document resubmissions. There are no refunds for this service, as we will work until your documents are approved.

Cancellations before completion are not allowed, and no refunds will be issued, except in the rare case where an issue cannot be resolved, in which a partial refund may apply.

People Not Allowed to Upload Docs:

• Teens who are turning 18 years old within 30 Days of Passing the Road Test
• Not a US Citizen
• Anyone with a Pending Transaction at the DPS

 Upon completion of the driving test, the examiner will tell the applicant of any errors made during the driving test and advise the applicant how to correct those errors.

 Finally when you pass your test if you have Selected the Texas Road Test + DPS Upload Service, Drivers Test Now will upload your Road Test Documentation to the DPS Portal and you will receive you new Drivers License by mail bypassing the standing in long DPS lines to submit the paperwork yourself.
